I loved hating this love story!

Ok folks, it’s like this – picture a yummy, gourmet dish – the finest ingredients are thrown in, reputed cooks steer the process, artistic hands present it aesthetically ..... with anticipation, you have the first mouthful & lo, behold, it tastes bland, boring & disappointing!
Bad news is that “I hate Luv Stories” suffers the same fate – the promise of the promos, the hope that this time Imran Khan will live up to the expectations created by “Jaane Tu ...”, that someone who looks as sizzling hot as Sonam Kapoor (not bad, Anil Kapoor!) will finally deliver, after duds like “Saawariya” & “Delhi 6”, that the KJo banner can’t get worse than “My name is Khan”.... don’t translate into good cinema.
What a crappy, run-of-the-mill story – the hero, scarred by his parents broken marriage (yawn!) refuses to take luv seriously, the mushy romantic heroine & her purrfect ‘Raj & Simran’ prem katha .... the plot which is good for a few scenes is stretched mercilessly into a full blown feature film – pure agony, like Chinese rack torture!
Thodi Khushi, Lotsa Gham! Good news is that Sonam looks like a dream – fresh, trendy & yes, the outfits, the look ... sure, this movie has the Manish Malhotra stamp – after all, it’s been directed by his nephew! Imran is a hottie, but how long can u sustain on just good looks & no substance – I know comparisons are odious, but look at Ranbir Kapoor – what diversity & such amazing performances!
Strangely, I was most struck by the plump friend, the “Sprite” ad guy, who had his funny moments!
But I did find something in common with the makers of the film – they hate luv stories – I did too – especially this one!
But every dark cloud has a silver lining – we got to see the trailer of Amir Khan’s “Peepli Live” – looks awesome!
